What It Takes to Live Here

These aren't suggestions — they're the standards that make New Opportunities a safe, functional home for every man who walks through the door.

Who We Accept

New Opportunities is for men who are serious about sobriety and ready to do the work. We accept men coming out of incarceration or who have completed a drug and alcohol treatment program. You must be detoxed and able to pass a drug test on the day you move in.

We do not accept men who are actively using or who are not committed to maintaining complete sobriety. If you are ready to change your life, we are ready to help you do it.

Entry requirements

Before You Move In

Detoxed on arrival

You must be fully detoxed before moving in. We do not provide detox services.

Pass a drug test

A drug and alcohol screening is required on the day of move-in. A positive test means you cannot move in.

Admin fee + first week

An admin fee plus the first week of rent is due at move-in. We work with those who cannot pay the full amount upfront — call us to discuss.

Commitment to sobriety

You must be willing to maintain complete sobriety for the duration of your stay. This is non-negotiable.

Ongoing requirements

What's Expected Every Week

Work full time

All residents are expected to maintain full-time employment. If you are disabled and unable to work, you must volunteer a minimum of 12 hours per week.

3 recovery meetings per week

Attend at least 3 outside recovery meetings each week — NA, AA, or Celebrate Recovery all qualify.

Weekly house meeting

All residents must attend the weekly house meeting. This is where house business is handled and community is built.

Pay rent on time

Rent of $150 per week is due on time, every week. Late rent is a house rule violation.

Mandatory savings account

Every resident is required to maintain a savings account. This builds the financial foundation you'll need when you move on.

Random drug and alcohol screenings

Screenings can happen at any time. A positive result means immediate removal from the house.
